Oklahoma: Plant Virus Biodiversity and Ecology, an NSF-EPSCoR supported program in the State of Oklahoma, will have openings for faculty, postdoctoral fellows, technicians and graduate students. Please see the project's homepage for more information.
Iowa State University: The Department of Plant Pathology, Iowa State University, invites applicants for a position to study the interaction of soybean mosaic virus with soybean resistance genes. The incumbent will be part of a cooperative investigation involving the laboratories of Drs. John Hill and Steve Whitham. Knowledge of plant molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, plant pathology, or a related field is required. Candidates with experience working in the area of plant virology and/or plant defense to pathogens will be preferred. Knowledge of recombinant DNA techniques, use of expression vectors, microarray analysis to identify changes in gene expression as a response to virus infection, and sensitive nucleic-acid based and immunological virus detection techniques is an advantage. The successful candidate must be able to design and conduct independent experiments and work successfully as part of a team.  The position is available immediately for one year with the second year continuation depending on performance.
